UK — . On March 18, an entire branch of the Green Party went on strike, and its secretary resigned, based on concerns that the party was being “hijacked” by trans activists.
The strike comes two days after Emma Bateman, co-chair of the party’s women’s committee, announced that she had been suspended the previous week, for asking “whether trans women are female”. Her question led to two fellow committee members launching a complaint against her for violating the party’s policy that “trans women are women”.
On March 8th, International Women’s Day, I was suspended from the Green Party following a complaint by 2 fellow GPW committee members
Because I queried whether trans women are female.
Green Party policy is that ‘trans women are women’Now we must agree that they are also female

Bateman’s suspension follows her motion at a recent Green Party conference calling for “a review of the language used in law…to ensure that sex and gender are not conflated, and that accurate terminology is used where relevant”. However, the motion was not heard and Bateman was not allowed to speak.
The branch on strike stated that its members will not return until Bateman’s suspension is lifted. The other women’s committee co-chair is Kathryn Bristow, a male who currently identifies as a woman. With Bateman’s suspension, Bristow is now the sole women’s chair.
The Green Party strikers have said they will not return until @EmmaBatemanGPW – the co-chair of Green Party Women who was suspended for asking what the party’s definition of a woman is (which meant a biological male is now sole chair) – has her suspension lifted (2/2)

A letter from the branch points out problematic actions from the male co-chair:
Kathryn has been criticised for his role in working for Gender GP, the company that was exposed by a recent Daily Telegraph investigation that demonstrated it was selling puberty blocking drugs to children, with no medical supervision.
The letter also notes that Bristow “intends to lie on the census form, which is an offence liable to a fine of £1000”, an action that appears to be applauded by the Green Party leadership.
The letter finishes by re-printing the resignation letter from Dom Armstrong, a Councillor in Sunderland, who had been the only Green Party member on council. Armstrong resigned from the party on March 9 because he had “become increasingly uneasy about my party’s stance on women’s rights”, and felt he could not stay in a party “that puts ideology before women and children’s safety.”
